The Dawn Of A New Year

This here is the last blog for 2005. Overall, 2005 wasn't a very good year for me. Although of course its not entirely bad but its still considered a bad year. I guess we can all call 2005 the most disasterous year EVER!!? Tsunami? Suicide bombings? Bird Flu? Hurricane Katrina? Death Of Prime Minister's Wife?? Whats with all the bad stuff happening all at once? End of the world? Maybe just a bad year? Or to prepare us for a better year in 2006?

So for the final day of the year, I shall list a few good and bad things that happened/still happening this year. And a few good and bads that I find err....good and bad..but mostly dealing with the games industry of course.

THE GOOD:
1.) SPM year, which means SPM will end.
2.) I am old enough to get a driving license.
3.) I got my PSP and Nintendo DS
4.) Bought original games for the first time ever.(Theyre not cheap)
5.) Made new friends in Guild Wars. (To all the CO people reading this, you guys have been great friends specially Xeos, Lexi, Fael and rest of the guildmembers)
6.) Final year in highschool (YAY or NAY?)
7.) Went for prom.
8.) This year is ending. (Seriously)
9.) POOL PARTY!!!
10.)

THE BAD:
1.) SPM year, which means I am grounded til SPM is over.(Thank goodness its over)
2.) I am now a big spender :-(
3.) A very uneventful year.
4.) My eyesight is now worse than ever.
5.) I still hunch.
6.) Family problems.
7.) I am still as useless as ever.
8.) I'm broke every month.
9.) Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire sucked.
10.) Final year in highschool (YAY or NAY?)

The goods and bads that happened in the game industry.

THE GOOD:
1.) Launch of XBOX360 (Which means next gen gaming is here)
2.) Resident Evil 4 as game of the year.
3.) Announcement of the PS3 and Nintendo Revolution
4.) The surprising Revolution `controller'.
5.) Announcement of World Of Warcraft The Burning Crusade
6.) Great Ds games lineup.
7.) GTA didn't win game of the year. (YES!!!!)
8.) Release of Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

THE BAD:
1.) Zelda Twilight Princess delayed to next year.
2.) Final Fantasy XII delayed til August 2006!!!
3.) Kingdom Hearts II delayed til March 2006.
4.) FF7 Dirge Of Cerberus delayed til 2006.
5.) PSP's dissapointing games lineup.
6.) XBOX 360 a no show in Japan.
7.) Gamecube's almost non existent game releases.
8.) Death of humans due to excessive WOW.

So that is all I have to say about 2005. There has been ups and downs as would every year but I would say the downs outweight the ups. I wish everyone A Happy 2006 and lets all hope it would be a better year than 2005. Adios and so long 2005.

`Tis The Season To be Jolly?

Yup yup yup, Christmas is coming real soon and I guess presents are already placed under brightly lit christmas trees and people are already getting excited over christmas. I on the other hand usually celebrate it by attending events in MMORPGs however this year, I have yet to decide on an MMORPG to celebrate christmas in. I still got my copy of FFXI sitting at the corner of my room waiting to be played. Or should I go with the usually fun filled Ragnarok Online? Or the cute side scroller Maple Story perhaps?

Christmas events in MMORPGs are usually filled with fun events such as quests to acquire presents or quests that involve a certain story specially made for christmas. For example, it has always been a tradition in Ragnarok Online that a certain Monster Lord will come attack a town to ruin christmas and it is up to you (the players) to defend the town against the monsters and celebrate a Merry Christmas together with other players after the event. Players will then rant about the event and share their thoughts while celebrating the event. Now that, is what I call a Magical Christmas.

I just came back from an overnight at Colin's house. There were 3 of us Colin, Teo and me. Teo brought his newly bought Playstation 2 to his house so we played some games, I played Magic The Gathering with Colin and went online with his pc. Slept at 3am and realized that I still grind my teeth when I sleep.... Anyone got any good ideas how to stop teeth grinding?

New Handphone, Party & Driving Theory Exam

NEW HANDPHONE
I know its only been 2 months since I last changed my handphone, but here I am again with another new handphone. May I present to you the sleek and sexy, Motorola V3 Razr *insert silent handclaps and cheers here*. I traded my Nokia 6260 and topped up an additional RM110 for the phone. The reason why I decided to switch phones is because I thought the deal was great and my phone was seriously getting boring function wise. Its basically the same symbian OS all over again with even crappier audio capabilities than the N-Gage. Not to mention the housing is a blardy FAKE, handsfree port is busted and unoriginal battery.

So I met up with the guy at 2.45am (Yes its very late/early don't ask why). He called me up and said he would come down to my house all the way from Kepong to settle the deal. So hey why not, less hassle and I get my new toy!!

My current impression with the phone, its pretty alright. Function wise, its not up to my expectations but I give it a 10 for style and design. The camera is only a 0.2Mp camera which, well basically has no difference with other cheap Nokia phones. At least I get the box, manual and accessories. Don't ask why but when I buy something I keep the box as if its worth a billion.

POOL PARTY & DRIVING THEORY EXAM
My undang test went pretty well. Me, Colin, Victor and Wee Liam passed the test without much problem. I only got a mere 43 though. Close to failing but oh well. Colin got 43, Victor got 45 and Teo surprisingly was the highest among us.....47!! I had sum trouble with the color blind test actually but I *cunningly* made it through...... :-p

The pool party was once again, really fun. Attendance was less than the 2nd party but so what. The fun was still there. I was too tired to swim though. My legs and shoulders cramp pretty easily nowadays due to excessive gaming and lack of exercise. We threw a packet of cards into the pool and everyone had to grab one and the number that is nearest to the King Of Spades will get a beating out of everyone. Went for yumcha with my cousin and Mei Yee after the party and went home pretty late.

A Night To Remember

Our year end SMKTM prom was held on 7th December. The venue was Istana Hotel and it was set to begin at 7.30pm. At 7.00 I was already fully dressed in my blazer, slacks, blue long sleeve shirt, a smart tie and crocodile shoes. Went down to Sue Jan's house and met up with all the handsome guys and pretty girls. Set out not long after that and we arrived at around 8.00 if I'm not mistaken?

The ballroom was brightly lit and there were lovely couples and well dressed people everywhere. Yea I was pretty jealous cos I was dateless after all. Went into the ballroom and we were seated at very odd places. Our numbers were supposed to be 11 but we were seated at table 19 instead. Talk about WEIRD. Not to mention the quiteness and boringness of the people at the table. I am used to it after all so no complaints there.

The event was fired off by a sucky DJ. That guy was making really lame jokes and he was kinda pissing some people off. The real thing began when Sufi started doing his thang. Lotsa people went on the dancefloor and jumped along with his songs. Umm his voice was from bad to average but everyone was happy with it and it was better than that lame DJ.

The food was average. Nothing special, not too bad but most people complained it sucked. Maybe they expected super nice hotel food since it was a hotel after all.

Not long after that the performers sang some slow songs. Ok ok I admit, I danced but only twice. Once with the slow song (with a partner of course. Kinda stole someone else's date.) and at the end of the prom where it was some really noisy clubbing songs. I seriously dislike clubbing songs as I suck at dancing to such Hip songs.

Went to Mcdonald for yumcha and reached home at 2.30. Sorry for the short blog on the prom as there too many things to elaborate and I'm feelling paticularly lazy right now. :-p

Life After The Struggle

Due to overexcitement, I have been too busy to blog right after SPM. So here I am posting my first blog after SPM. Today is the OFFICIAL last day of SPM. I shall begin my tale from last friday.

Friday 2nd December
EST wasn't too bad though I think my report didn't have much substance in it. This, I suppose is due to my lack of concentration during the exam. I mean come on, its the last day and the only thing on everyone's mind is for it to be over. So our final paper ended at 10.50, we cheered, we screamed, we bade farewell, and the air was filled with nothing but joy.

Me and my cousin rushed home as we signed up for the Quake 4 Competition happening at the PIKOM PC FAIR 2005 at the KLCC Convention Center. We reached at 12 and was hoping we could make it for the tourney but in the end, we spent an hour looking for the damn booth. We even went through the whole fair twice to no avail. After hours of searching we finally found the booth and guess what, the competition was delayed. Heck, one of their workers didn't even know there is a competition happening at their booth!!

After my cousin went home, I met up with Joachim, Becky, Szu Mei, Alicia and Abigail for another round of Pc Fair. I made them wait quite long for my arrival which made me feel pretty bad cos I know Joachim wasn't particularly happy about it but oh well. Went into the Pc Fair for the 3rd time and we got seperated not long after that. So there I was walking with only Szu Mei and Becky. Lucky me having 2 leng luis with me. *cough cough*. Seperated with Szu Mei, Alicia and Abigail after that as they had to go watch Harry Potter. While waiting at the Pc Fair exit, we met Tan Sze *somtin*.(Sorry but I duno its wei or wen or what but its that guylah)

Said he just came back from college from very far and was going home. But in the end, he ended up following us all the way which made Joachim pretty pissed. I guess its cos Becky was there so thats why hes following us. I had to go get tickets for Harry Potter so I asked Becky to follow me while we let Joachim and Tan be `together`. Haha, we both wondered how he fared together with someone he dislikes. Joachim went to join Szu Mei after that and I walked with Becky and even met her mom. Well its my first time seeing her mom actually but she says I look familiar. Hmm...

Met up with Yap, Wen Dee, Thaesigen and Waylon at 4.30. We planned to go to Petrosains but tickets were sold out. Unlucky us! So we went for a walk and dinner after that in California Pizza Kitchen. The pizza was really yummy and the salad's chicken was syok. Err, actually I was the one who gobbled down all the salad chicken. Syhhhh..... Parted way with Waylon after dinner and then met up with my family and we watched Harry Potter.

Personally, the movie is a dissapointment to me. I guess it would be enjoyable if you watched the movie without reading the book but for a potter fan, the movie just didn't live up to the quality the book portrayed. Fetched Yap, Wen Dee and Thaesigen home and it was the end of an excellent day!

Saturday 3rd December
The excitement of the end of SPM didn't end there. Although my legs were killing me after yesterday thanks to the Pc Fair, I knew there was more fun waiting for me. Met up with Jeffrey, Tan, Princeton, Daniel and Joshua at Tbun and we headed off to KLCC to watch Kungfu Mahjong 2. To everyone out there, you should definitely watch this movie with your WhacKy FrIenDs. Its worth it for great nonsensical laughs. After the movie we went to the Pc Fair (Again!!?).

Manage to grab a copy of the 2nd issue of Iplay. Thankfully, my article was in there again. Yay!! Walked halfway and got a call from Jeshua and Sue Jan saying they needed my help to get some stuff from the Pc Fair. Since I'm already there, why not? Helped Jeshua get a Geforce FX5200 which I think would probably perform alright for the games he want to play. Sue Jan bought a webcam and a pair of headphones. She was particularly happy about it. Hehe.... Sue Jan fetched me home and i went for dinner after that.

Sunday 4th December
Went to batu caves for breakfast with my family and that was it. Didn't do much except pack the books in my room. Owh went yum cha with Woo, Teo and Tan at night. Played a game of Dota in Tbun before yum cha but I sucked since I didn't play Dota for a long time and I was particularly blurr on that day. (I think I always am)
